Nickey Sanders wanted to win Thursday’s volleyball match against Carlisle pretty badly.
In her four years at Chambersburg, the middle blocker had never won in Carlisle, she told Trojan coach Ty Frelin, no matter if she as on junior varsity or varsity.
In her last chance to win up north, the senior took control.
She recorded 10 kills to go with 10 blocks, five of which went for kills.
“She was really zoned in tonight,” Chambersburg coach Ty Frelin said.
Normally, Frelin will rotate along the front line and Sanders, who comes off the bench, splits time as a reserve with freshman Caitlin Vrabel.
On this night, he couldn’t take time away from Sanders as she kept making play after play.
“You could tell she was zoned in,” Frelin said. “She had the opportunities tonight and she made the best of them. I thought she did a really good job.”
